the Lake

This series portrays the Michigan Lake in different mediums and techniques to convey different emotions. Throughout this series, I wanted to experiment how different mediums and techniques can be used to appeal to the audience and communicate its story.

The first and second pieces are done with gouache however, the two paintings share different emotions as the first piece has whimsical feelings and more movement whereas the second piece feels more static. The third piece is painted with watercolor and drawn over with an ink pen. This piece evokes melancholic emotions. The fourth piece was done with a pencil and it shares more nostalgic emotions.

Childhood

This series represents the nostalgia of childhood and the memories that aren’t always so clear. I used the painting technique on the left to show the unclarity of the memories.
