Organize
Adobe Illustrator, 2024
Project Overview
This project visually explores the definition of “organize” by interpreting its meaning through three different lenses. By breaking down the concept into three tangible aspects—space, time, and thought—the project encourages viewers to reflect on their own relationship with order and structure.
Purpose
The purpose of this project is to explore the connection between typography and imagery. The use of vibrant colors and geometric shapes, clocks, and a puzzle-piece brain creates a cohesive yet varied representation that communicates its meanings to the audience.
Challenge
The main challenge was defining “organize” in a way that felt broad yet specific enough to create distinct visual representations. Initially, the concept felt abstract, but by grounding it in everyday experiences—tidy spaces, structured schedules, and mental organization—the project took shape. This approach allowed for a more engaging and relatable exploration of the theme.
Key Themes:
Order & Structure: How organization brings clarity and efficiency to life.
Interpretation of Meaning: Expanding the definition of “organize” beyond just tidiness.
Everyday Relevance: Connecting the theme to familiar, everyday scenarios.
Deliverables
A series of 3 pieces of connecting theme
Organizing Space
This piece represents spatial organization through structured geometric forms, such as grids, rows, and columns, evoking a sense of order and balance. The contrasting shapes and colors suggest categorization and systematic arrangement, mirroring how people organize physical environments. The bold, red typography reinforces the sense of structure and clarity, making the message direct and impactful.
Organizing Time
Centered around the theme of time management, this design features four clocks set at different angles, symbolizing scheduling and time allocation. The repetition and symmetry create a rhythmic flow, visually mirroring the busy schedule. The soft blue typography conveys a sense of calmness and control, aligning with the idea of well-managed time.
Organizing thoughts
The brain composed of puzzle pieces represents cognitive organization, with one piece floating away to suggest the ongoing thought process and ideation. The curved, tangled line in the background contrasts with the structured puzzle, highlighting the process of chaotic thoughts into structured thinking. The earthy green typography gives a grounded, thoughtful feel, giving the audience the power to interpret the poster.
